This course is divided into key areas of the NZ English Curriculum. Focus areas for developing reading, writing and speaking skills, include a film study, a text connections unit, and a written text study. Foundation skills, including writing conventions and language techniques, will be integrated in all learning areas. There is a strong focus on formal writing skills in this course in preparation for NCEA Level 1 English.

An individual course will only run if sufficient students are accepted into the course.
All approvals for courses through this system are subject to satisfactory achievement in remaining internal standards and external examinations. Course Confirmation Day will run at the start of next year, where final approval for each course will be confirmed.
