Level 1 Digital Technology

Subject Description

Teacher in Charge: D. Dewhurst

The course is broadly broken into two areas Developing Digital Outcomes (3DO)and Computational Thinking (CT)

Students will first be exploring the issue of Road Safety and develop a responsive website to help learner drivers understand the rules of the road. The first aspect of this process will be the development of a conceptual design for the proposed outcome. This must show the content layout and color scheme . A practical exploration of sorting and searching algorithms will be started in Term 3 as the first computer science topic for which a written report is required. The second computer science topic is the how data is compressed this requires a written report. The last assessment is an external examination about  Human Computer Interaction (HCI). This is explored and applied through a range of evaluation activities in preparation for external examination done in examination week. All strands of this course will be continued the following year.

Term 1 – Develop a website to support an aspect of Road Safety

Term 2 - Exploring and understanding algorithms

Term 3 - Compression of data

Term 3 –  Human Computer Interaction

There will be a course contribution of $15 for the year.
