Level 2 Fashion and Design Technology
Subject Description
Teacher in Charge: Y. Pochon
This course will appeal to students who have a passion for fashion and design and wish to learn more advanced skills needed to begin a pathway into a career where innovation and problem solving are desirable.
The course builds up on the skills and understanding developed in L1. The emphasis is to continue to work on illustration skills and increase the construction knowledge needed to design and create garments which are technically more advanced. Fashion drawing continues to be developed, working towards using basic ideas to create a personal style alongside keeping the fundamental requirements of garment design intact.
As with Level 1, this course requires a high level of commitment, as all the practical work for NCEA is assessed in class. There is a large proportion of research which must be completed out of school. All students must be prepared to source their own materials and accessories for all garments that are designed and constructed. (Toile fabric, dyes, and basic sewing materials are supplied).
Entry Guidelines
A minimum of 12 Technology credits at Level 1. Students will have needed to complete L1 Fashion Design in order to be able to successfully progress through the theory and practical nature of the L2 requirements.
