Subject Description
Teacher in Charge: A. Millard, A. Thomsen.
Students will enter Whakaari Matua, the split-level senior drama ensemble of Year 12 and 13s. It is busy but incredibly productive, with choices of performance work including a Political theatre, a full production of a play of your choice, directing, and devising. The external exam on a live performance continues to be an element.
A whole class production off-site , a live theatre outing to the Nelson Arts Festival, and specialist workshops are integrated into the course.
While four internal standards (as well as the external exam) are offered as part of this course, most students will attempt three internal standards plus the exam.
Entry Guidelines
The best preparation for this course is to study NCEA Level 1 Drama. Entry without meeting this can be discussed with the Teacher in Charge or Head of Faculty.
