Level 3 English develops critical and analytical thinking skills around a range of written and visual texts. Students are assessed through both internal and external achievement standards. 10 credits are offered internally and 8 externally in an end of year exam.
Students may also opt into the English Scholarship programme, which involves additional tutorials throughout the year and a separate exam.
ENG3 will prepare you well for the writing and critical thinking requirements of university.
A student should have a minimum of 14 credits from Level 2 English, including Achievement Standard 91101 (writing portfolio) and at least 4 credits from the external exam. Alternatively, entry may be granted at the discretion of the Head of Faculty.
This course is eligible for subject endorsement.
This course is approved for University Entrance.

Externally Assessed Credits: 8 credits.
Internally Assessed Credits: 10 credits.

Only students engaged in learning and achievement derived from Te Marautanga o Aotearoa are eligible to be awarded these subjects as part of the requirement for 14 credits in each of three subjects.

An individual course will only run if sufficient students are accepted into the course.
All approvals for courses through this system are subject to satisfactory achievement in remaining internal standards and external examinations. Course Confirmation Day will run at the start of next year, where final approval for each course will be confirmed.
