This English course is for students who wish to improve their reading and writing literacy skills and gain Level 1 literacy. The course comprises of a range of unit and achievement standards that allow students to develop skills in reading and writing. This course is assessed internally, with no end of year exam. A differentiated learning programme will be developed around the students’ needs and interests. Completion of this course leads into Level 2 Applied English. It is important to note that Level 2 Applied English is unlikely to offer University Entrance literacy credits.
Entry Guidelines
Placement in this alternative course to Level 1 English, will be made at the recommendation of Year 10 English teachers and based on achievement in common assessment tasks. Students and parents/caregivers are likely to be consulted prior to placement. The final decision will rest with the Head of Faculty.
Pathway
It is important to note that Level 2 Applied English is unlikely to offer University Entrance literacy credits.
