Level 2 Applied English

Subject Description

Teacher in Charge: A. Wright

This English course is for students who wish to improve their reading and writing literacy skills and potentially gain credits at Level 1 and/or Level 2. Students are assessed through internal standards. There is no end of year exam in this course. University Entrance literacy credits are unlikely to be gained in this course. The course may offer achievement and/or unit standards from a range of subjects, including English. A differentiated learning programme will be developed around the students’ needs and interests. The Unit Standards listed below are three that may be offered in this course, along with others.

Pathway

This course is unlikely to offer University Entrance literacy credits. Completion of this course does not allow for Level 3 English entry but it could lead to English Level 2, if the student wishes to gain further credits in English. A differentiated learning programme will be developed around the students' needs and interests.

Entry Guidelines

Students should consider this course as their Level 2 English option if they found Level 1 English challenging, particularly the writing standards and external assessments. This course is also designed for students who may have missed out on internal credits at Level 1, or who were in Level 1 Applied English the previous year.
