Year 9 Social Studies
Teacher in Charge: S. Rankin
The aim of Social Studies is to engender wonder, enthusiasm and an appreciation of the human, natural and economic environments we live in. While experiencing new ideas and posing controversial questions, students are encouraged to achieve their personal level of excellence. Students look into New Zealand’s identity and culture and the events that have played a part in forming who we are today.
Why is there a gap between the rich and the poor and how are the world’s limited resources shared?
What are the rights and responsibilities of citizens when participating in today’s society?
An individual course will only run if sufficient students are accepted into the course.
All approvals for courses through this system are subject to satisfactory achievement in remaining internal standards and external examinations. Course Confirmation Day will run at the start of next year, where final approval for each course will be confirmed.
