The NCEA Level 1 course develops skills in writing, reading, speaking, listening, viewing and presenting. There is a focus on developing literacy skills, so that students are prepared for NCEA Level 2. The course involves both a written and visual text study. Formal writing skills are a key focus of this course. There are 10 internal credits available in this course. Students will have the choice between three external standards, written text, visual text and unfamiliar texts. The majority of students will attempt two, worth a total of 8 credits.
A Level 1 English course is a compulsory subject for all students.
This course is eligible for subject endorsement.
Total Credits Available: 18 credits.
Externally Assessed Credits: 8 credits.
Internally Assessed Credits: 10 credits.
An individual course will only run if sufficient students are accepted into the course.
