Level 3 Fashion and Design Technology
Subject Description
Teacher in Charge: Y. Pochon
This course is for students who are highly passionate and motivated towards a career where innovation and problem solving are desirable. They will continue to develop and enhance skills learnt over the past two years, resulting in creative and individual garments and fashion illustrations.
This course is for students who have successfully completed L1 & L2 Fashion Design. The emphasis is on taking the knowledge gained and using that to design and create dynamic and innovative clothing. There is an expectation that students will be highly motivated and keen to work on their designs both in and out of school. Students will learn how to draft patterns from measurements to create a “block” that will then be used as a basis for further complex garment construction. There will be two major projects which will have common themes linking all the achievement standards together, resulting in both an actual and virtual collection of garments by the end of the year.
As with L1 & L2, all construction work for the AS must be completed in class time under supervision. There is an increased level of personal research which must be undertaken for the year’s project to be successful.
An additional 3 credit external Achievement Standard is also available. Scholarship is also available in this subject.
