Entry Guidelines

The best preparation for this course is to engage in Year 9 Mathematics


Students will increase their understanding of number and algebra, geometry and statistics. They will be exposed to electronic calculation methods to complement mental and written skills. They will develop further their ability to systematically problem solve and mathematically communicate their both their findings and reasoning.

Year 10 students will be given the opportunity to sit the numeracy co-requisite exam. Achievement in this will enable students to gain the 10 numeracy credits required for achievement of NCEA Level 1.

$25 – maths buddy or equivalent or workbooks

Calculator (minimum scientific) essential.
Graphics calculator ( eg.Casio 9750) recommended. No need for a scientific calculator if have a graphics calculator.
A graphics calculator is essential for all level 2 and 3 Mathematics courses.

All approvals for courses through this system are subject to satisfactory achievement in remaining internal standards and external examinations. Course Confirmation Day will run at the start of next year, where final approval for each course will be confirmed.
