Level 2 Biology

BIO2
Subject Description

Teacher in Charge: Whaea C. Northage

Students will undertake field work to study community patterns in an ecosystem. The focus then moves to individual organisms and, in particular, learning about the diversity of animal circulatory and gas exchange systems. Next we conduct practical investigations into cell biology – examining how living organisms function at a cellular level. The final focus is learning about gene expression, genetic variation and genetic change [evolution].

This is a recommended course for students considering tertiary study in Health Sciences, AgriCommerce, AgriScience, Medical Laboratory Science, Veterinary Science and Technology, Biomedical Science, Nursing, Dental Technology, Physical Education and numerous majors in a Science or Applied Science degree.
