Entry Guidelines

The best preparation for this course is to study NCEA Level 1 Science and gain the Biology Achievement Standard (External). Entry without meeting this can be discussed with the Head of Faculty.

Students will carry out an investigation under supervision looking at osmosis. The focus then moves to individual organisms and, in particular, learning about the diversity of animal circulatory and gas exchange systems. Finally we learn about gene expression, genetic variation and genetic change [evolution].

This is a recommended course for students considering tertiary study in Health Sciences, AgriCommerce, AgriScience, Medical Laboratory Science, Veterinary Science and Technology, Biomedical Science, Nursing, Dental Technology, Physical Education and numerous majors in a Science or Applied Science degree.
