Level 1 Music

Subject Description

This course is very much tailored to carry through to Levels 2 and 3 based on music performance to perform in class as well as at public venues such as school assemblies, Mahi Toi, Rockquest, Jazz Fest, and concerts at NCMA. Students are encouraged to perform their own compositions and you will be given support to use your music knowledge and music composition skills. Students will gain the skills and techniques needed to perform confidently in solo and group situations with the support of Itinerant teaching programme and it is recommended that students are enrolled in tuition. The programme will be individually tailored to each student’s talents and interests. For those students who have had several years music training they can opt to do the two external papers. 

Students will complete a selection, not all, of the standards listed below.

Entry Guidelines

Year 10 Music or tuition on a musical instrument for more than two years.
